Hi this is Jodi Goodell your Pet Lovers Realtor in sunny Boca Raton, Florida. Today I am going to talk to you about preparing your home for a real estate photo shoot.
About one week before the photo shoot you will want to go ahead and prepare the exterior of your home. Pressure wash pavers, pressure wash the building, if you have to touch up paint, blow the leaves off the driveway, pay attention to tidying up your landscape and pulling weeds out of the beds. Maybe think about freshening it up with some beautiful mulch or seasonal plants. On the interior of the home you are going to want to declutter, change light bulbs, touch up paint as necessary.
On the day of the photo shoot please move all parked cars off of the driveway and away from the front of the house to allow easy access for the photographer. Move garbage cans, recycling bins, and hoses to a site preferably inside of the garage or behind a wall where the photographer will not need access. Make sure that any type of leaves or palm fronds that have fallen down are removed from the front on the day of the photo shoot. On the inside of the house you will want to open all the drapes and blinds, turn on all of the lights, clean up the floors one last time, make all of your beds and fluff your pillows, put clean towels in the bathrooms, make sure the toilet bowl lids are down. Make sure all soap dispensers and toiletries are off of the countertops and out of the shower. You will want to remove all pet bowls, toys, and beds from the area. If possible, although we love Fido we do not want Fido in the middle of our photograph, try to take Fido next door to a neighbor or maybe put him in another part of the house while the photographer is photographing that part and then move him back into another room if you can't relocate your pet temporarily.
It is also a great idea to put out fresh flowers or a nice bowl of fresh fruit as a centerpiece in the dining room or kitchen.
